Go Go Go…
By all measures this is been one of our typical busy summers. It’s not much of a stretch to say that just about every weekend we have someone visiting us or we are going somewhere else. Between playing with Helena and all of our travels I am way behind on blog posts and uploading pictures (among other things).
This weekend we have Auntie Bunny visiting for the second time in three weekends. Although she is currently passed out on the couch she was an excellent helper yesterday getting food ready for Helena’s birthday party. We celebrated with the family yesterday (a week early-ish) because there were some VIPs who would not be able to be here for her actual birthday. Helena does not exactly get the whole concept of opening presents yet, but she did rather enjoy tearing up the wrapping paper after things were unwrapped. She also had her first “cake experience”, albeit of the cup variety. Auntie Bunny baked carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I’m still not 100% sure whether Helena enjoyed the cupcakes or not. She ate some and practiced her curveball on the rest. She hit the ground on every throw them so at least she’s accurate. Hopefully, we will have some birthday pics posted before long, but we will probably wait until after her actual birthday.
In between visits from Patricia we also took a long weekend in Chicago as part of what is being dubbed the “10 year DIS reunion tour”. To my knowledge though, Chicago is the only stop on the tour this year. Of course, it was not a reunion for me, but for Christine and friends she met when she was studying in Denmark. But we are all friends now and we had a blast. Aside from just being able to “visit” highlights include Vodka shots at CVS pharmacy (SERIOUSLY), ice cream every night and sometimes twice a day, great food and fireworks. Picture link below.
We also posted some pictures of our trip up to old Orchard Beach/Saco Maine from Patricia’s last visit. She and “Becky Y” surprised Christine and then the rest of the family in Maine with an unannounced visit. Helena got to play with her older cousin and the grown ups got to catch up. Didn’t make it in the ocean though 🙁
Here are a few of my favs…
