Acadia 2025 – Day 1: Great Head and Gorham Mountain
We had a great first day in Acadia. This was our first time seeing the park in the winter and we had a great day with a morning swim and 2 hikes to a couple of our favorite spots. Thank goodness for micro spikes!
Birthday Hike up Cannon
What an incredible day with my daughter. We took advantage of the updated weather forecast of cool temps and no thunderstorms and drove north to conquer her second 4000 footer, Mt Cannon, after taking her up Eisenhower a couple weeks ago. I don’t think it’s possible to have more fun that we had. She DJ’ed…
Seal Dive at the Isle of Shoals
Yesterday I left from Kittery, Maine on Portsmouth Scuba charter with Seafari. There were 9 divers in all with 1 goal in mind…swim with some cute seals. I tried this last year only to be unable to see the seals because of waves. This year was much different. After seeing a few seals during the…
Scuba NH
Just a quick note that I found a fun place (more to come I hope) to scuba dive in Mass. Had a blast visiting with lobsters, crabs, hermit crabs, and some good sized fish. With a little luck, you’ll all stop getting these annoying emails every day.
Helena’s Regional Results – 2017
We are super proud of the hard work Helena has put in swimming over the past year, but especially since the swim season began in September. She seems to set new personal bests every time she jumps in the pool. In some cases she has taken more than 30 seconds off her previous best time.
This past weekend was the 2017 NE Regionals, which is a qualifying event. Impressively, Helena qualified in 7 different events. I got the privilege of getting to see Helena swim 4 of those events on Sunday, which also included a 40+ mile drive home in a nor’easter.
The Mice Will Play
It has become old hat to have Helena all to myself for several days or more. We always have an absolute blast and it’s always very easy. This past week however, while the “cat” was away for work there were three mice left to play instead of just the usual two. While I am super…
Ice Skating during February Vacation
February vacation was lots of fun. My trick to spend time with Helena is to take her out of the house. Otherwise she disappeared over to the neighbors to “play with the girls”. So when I did get her attention we did fun things like eat ice cream, pizza, mac and cheese (our special recipe), watch movies (theater and home) and some not so fun like go to the dentist.
One of the most fun was ice skating with her friend Ayvree and her family. I put together a little video of the fun

Introducing Callen
I guess you could say I’m a little late writing a blog about our wonderful little addition to the family. But those out there who are parents understand that it’s super hard to find the time to do anything. As if to reinforce that point Callen just had a blowout and I’m being called away. #thejoysofparenting
For those that don’t know, he was born on Father’s Day…
Qualified for Regionals
We are all super proud of Helena and her swimming. To be fair, we were very proud already, but when we found out that she qualified for the regional swim meet we were both shocked and excited. Helena is 6 years old and she is swimming in the 8 and under group. I never even looked ahead to see what the schedule of the regional swim meet was because I thought it was impossible that a six-year-old would ever qualify.
