Kitchen Project – Week 1 – 2

Well, as we could have guessed and should have known the kitchen is coming together slower than we had hoped and slower than we were promised. Has anyone ever hired a contractor that was accurate with their time estimates? The first couple weeks of the project have mostly involved taking things apart and sanding down the cabinets for refacing. Most of the work has consisted of stuff you can’t really see like wiring for under cabinet lights and preparing the insides of the cabinets.

It has certainly been frustrating not to have a fully functioning kitchen. Imagine that just making a grilled cheese is practically an act of God because the spatula, cooking spray, pan, ingredients are all scattered to different rooms and never in the place you thought they were and you’ll have some idea of what it’s like.

The best part so far has been seeing the dark wood get sanded off and the new laminate going up. We can start to imagine how much lighter it’s going to be with our new cabinet color. I’ll post some pics from week 3 in a bit…
