April 2011
This has been an extremely busy month or so, which accounts for my lack of blog posts in that timeframe. I don’t even think I have time to do this one, but there have been so many fun and crazy moments with Helena and of course Christine that I feel like I need to write about them. I’ll explain one of the reasons why I’m so busy in my next blog post (which hopefully won’t take until next month).
Where to start? Just when you think kids can’t be any more fun, they prove you wrong. At least our little kiddo keeps proving me wrong. Since my last post only Helena seems to have exploded with new words and new communication skills. We tried to compare how many words she knows now to how many she knew a couple months ago when we last wrote them down and we gave up when we ran out of paper.
She is really developing a mind of her own with her own opinions (uh-oh) and a fantastic sense of humor. She is constantly making both Christine and I (and even herself (which according to Christine is a Keenan trait) laugh out loud! Her hair is growing out quite a bit now and it is now not uncommon to have pigtails (“piggies”) or even a ponytail in her hair. I’m also learning how to comb knots out of long hair. For some reason it’s never been an issue for me personally.
We also seem to have grown out of the “I don’t like the bath” phase. More often than not we need to drag her out looking like a prune. Her absolute favorite thing to do in the bath is to stack her bath toys (with the help of mom and dad) and then knock them down as if she is the hand of God. It makes her laugh every time! Currently Dad is the toy stacking champion with a house record 6 toys stacked before “Lena the destroyer” knocked them all over.
The other very funny and maybe a little bizarre development over the past month or so has been that Helena insists on having soup for dinner. When I pick her up at daycare she often follows up “daddy!” with “soooop!”. The one night in the last five weeks or so that we did not have soup was when she and I went on a daddy/daughter date to Five Guys. Upon inhaling the entire grill cheese she looked at me with a great big smile and said, “sooooop!?!”. Needless to say, she wasn’t too thrilled to find out that there wouldn’t be any. But we had fun nonetheless.
Christine posted some pictures to SmugMug for the month of March. Here is a direct link in case you missed it: SmugMug March.
A few of my favorites (many of them featuring Helena and I) are below.
