Fantastic Fourth
Me and my girls had a fantastic Fourth of July weekend! We started off with Helena’s first swimming lessons at the YMCA. I have to say that we were a little nervous about how she would do in the pool, but she showed us that our worries were unfounded. She got right in and had a great time singing songs and trying to float. And as luck would have it our neighbors who spent the Fourth of July at their beach house gave us the keys to their pool and Helena got to go swimming again in the afternoon when we had some friends over to enjoy the pool (including one of Helena’s friends). She did great job sharing her toys but not such a great job listening which we chalked up to her only having slept half an hour in the car. Not quite the nap that she’s used to.
Sunday was a bit of a get things done kind of day, like grocery shopping, mowing the lawn, and doing some cooking. But we followed that up with a wonderfully fun trip to Hampton State Beach on Monday morning. This was the first time that we really committed to going to the beach and staying for a little while. We threw caution to the wind and didn’t worry about naptime and spent almost 3 hours at the beach. It was also the first time that Helena really played in the water and in the sand and Christine and I were having so much fun just watching her run around and giggle and get dirty (and wet!). Helena even did such a good job listening that she got to have what I have dubbed a “beach treat”.
But the fun wasn’t over after the beach. She took almost an hour nap in the car and when we came home (after a brief pause for a snack) we went outside and she got to run in the sprinkler. I think you can see by a couple of the pictures below that she had a super fun time. So far every day after I picked her up from daycare she has asked me if she could run in the sprinkler. Sprinkler time is tentatively on the calendar for this weekend.
If I had more time I would share even more of the fun times that Helena has brought us recently. But I don’t so I will just leave you with a link to the June SmugMug pictures
