2 Years and Counting

It is almost impossible to believe that Helena is 2 years old already.  I look back on the old photos that we have of her and I can’t believe how much she’s changed. Last year on her birthday she had no idea what was going on and had much more fun playing with the wrapping paper than anything else. This year she knew her party was coming, she knew what kind of cake she wanted, and she couldn’t rein in her excitement. The night before her birthday party was a big night for me at work. We moved our data center from San Antonio to Massachusetts and it needed to be done in the middle of the night. So I tried to go to bed early so that I would have some energy when I woke up at 2 AM, but Helena woke me up at 10:30 PM with a bout of hysterical crying because she just couldn’t wait for her party and the joy of eating birthday cake. By the time I had her settled down again there was no way I was going to fall back asleep.

So far, it has been an extremely busy summer and we have really been enjoying all the fun activities that she can do now. We started swimming lessons this summer and we have been to the beach several times (as you can see from the pictures below). She does pretty well in the car if you can handle her musical requests. Right now her main playlist consists of “Sherry”, “it’s my party”, “big girls don’t cry”, “oh what a night”, as well as a couple other Frankie Valley and the 4 seasons songs and some Gordon Lightfoot. She even sings along with them now. If one of those songs happens to not be playing though she spends her time making requests or saying “no shuffle”. Enjoy the pictures from July.
