Fantastic Daddy Daughter Day in Long Island
Had an amazing daddy daughter day yesterday on Long Island while Christine went to a baby shower. Started off with a trip to the Long Island Aquarium, which although small, had a sea lion show and a tank where you could touch and feed the sting rays (stingers removed of course). Helena also got to walk around a salt marsh and explore some animals and learn about them from one of the very knowledgeable workers.
After a great nap, we decided to check out Smiths Point Country Park, which was an adventure finding because we didn’t know the actual real name of the park. We had quite the tour of some small neihborhoods nearby, but had to phone a friend to find out where we SHOULD be going. It turns out it is at the TWA Flight 800 International Memorial, which is very easy to find. We got there later than we have ever been at the beach and enjoyed a beautiful evening on the playground and by the water playing “Palace Theater” with the princess dolls. I even took a dip in the water, but only briefly because Helena was scarred of me being in the big waves.
