Qualified for Regionals

We are all super proud of Helena and her swimming. To be fair, we were very proud already, but when we found out that she qualified for the regional swim meet we were both shocked and excited. Helena is 6 years old and she is swimming in the 8 and under group. I never even looked ahead to see what the schedule of the regional swim meet was because I thought it was impossible that a six-year-old would ever qualify. Well, I guess I should never make that assumption again. We are pretty sure that she qualified in the 25 freestyle and we think she is about 5 – 7 seconds away from qualifying in the 50 freestyle. She still has one more swim meet and 2 months to go before Regionals and at her current pace of improvement I’d say there’s a great chance she’ll qualify another event. In November she took off 19 seconds from her 50 free time and she took off another 13 seconds in the December swim meet.
