Arethusa Falls

Our first hiking excursion of the year was a success! We had a nice surprise in that Dani & Emerson (of Philadelphia fame) were visiting New Hampshire and invited us to come up north. We decided to hike a trail that we had never hiked before and were rewarded with a beautiful waterfall at the end of a perfect hike. Before starting out on our trek we stopped for a few pictures with Mount Washington behind us. You can see in the picture below that it is still snow capped.

We had no idea what to expect at the falls. I assumed that they would be rather small and that most of the falls that we saw in Hawaii would have outshone any waterfalls in New Hampshire. So imagine my surprise when they turned out to be as large as they are. Add to that the runoff from the melting snow, and you have a very impressive waterfall!

All in all it was an amazing day that was capped by our first moose sighting! We were actually talking about whether we would see one and within thirty seconds one appeared on the side of the road. We slowed down to within no less than 30 feet from the moose and waited for it to prance across the road. Sadly, we did not get a picture because the camera was in the trunk 🙁 Hopefully, it won’t be our last sighting.

Great hat CMK. I really hope I can snag a cheap fare on Skybus and come for a hike. They were grant approval and will start running soon. Dad said instead of deer checks, we should start running Skybus checks! Hope you find another great hike for this weekend.XOXOXMomma
