More About Montana!

I’ve been wanting to post some more about our trip, but we have been so busy! I was also really hoping that my new computer would be here much sooner because this would be easier to do on a nice fast computer with a big screen (especially if it had all of my pictures on it).

All of the pictures below are from our Grinnell Glacier hike. This was our second favorite hike during our trip and I’m sure you can tell from the pictures why that was the case. Since we were in bear country we decided that a ranger led hike would be the safest thing to do. We did not see any bears on the trip, although a few people on the boat ride to the trail claimed they saw bears in the woods. We did see a female moose on the boat ride and she actually delayed our hike because we needed to wait for her to clear away from the dock before we could get off the boat.

The hike to the glacier was about 8.5 miles round trip and was one of those great hikes where the journey is as good or better than the destination. In the picture below which we tweaked just a little bit you can get an idea of the view that we had the entire way up the mountain. When we arrived at the top we ate lunch while close to 30 big horned sheep gave us a stunning display of balance while running across the cliffs and snow directly above us.

That is upper Grinnell Lake behind us. It was created from the melting glaciers.

This one is already in a frame

Christine got her camera out just in time to capture this big horned sheep after it crossed our path on the trail.

Your photos are AMAZING. Looks like you had a wonderful time exploring the wilderness. You were probably a bit more adventurous that I would ever be. Christine, I’m going to meet you one of these days!!
