Lonesome Lake Winter Hike

Our last Christmas present from Diane (Christine’s mom) was the gift of a day of hiking up north all by ourselves. Despite a late start and a return home to retrieve forgotten ski poles, We started up the mountain just before noon. I suppose that referring to Lonesome Lake as a mountain is a little bit generous (and a little bit of an insult to real mountains). But it is about 1000 feet of elevation in a little bit over mile, so it’s not exactly a stroll either.

We really could not have asked for a better day to go for a hike. The night before the mountain…

Frozen – Helena’s First Movie Theater Experience

On Christmas Eve we took Helena to her very first movie at the movie theater to see Disney’s Frozen. Based on her enthusiastic reaction to the movie, the popcorn, and the experience, I think it is safe to say that she will want to go back for many more movies. We even managed to get…

Making Christmas Cookies with Grandma

This morning was a getting things done kind of morning. Pulled pork is cooking, mama’s baked beans are ready to go, and Helena and grandma have been working hard on Christmas cookies. Helena’s Special Dance

Helena has a special dance she calls “The Naked Dance”. As you can imagine, it’s normally done sans clothes, but we had a rare clothed demo this week and caught it on video. It quickly deteriorated into more of a potty dance, but it was done in the spirit of the naked dance so it…

What a hair-do!

During bathtime the other night I was able to capture that perfect moment when her hair stood straight up in the air. Those moments are rare enough as it is, but to have her actually smile while taking a picture… Priceless!!!

Fantastic Daddy Daughter Day in Long Island

Had an amazing daddy daughter day yesterday on Long Island while Christine went to a baby shower. Started off with a trip to the Long Island Aquarium, which although small, had a sea lion show and a tank where you could touch and feed the sting rays (stingers removed of course). Helena also got to…
